When I began this project, my research showed me the daily reality for professionals in the insurance industry. I saw users—administrators and underwriters—who were clearly frustrated. Their days were spent navigating a maze of outdated software, endless email chains, and disconnected spreadsheets just to process a single claim. They were burdened with repetitive manual data entry, which was not only tedious but also led to costly errors. It was clear that their existing tools were a source of friction, not a source of support.
My challenge, therefore, was more than just designing a new interface; it was to completely rethink their workflow and build an experience that felt intuitive and empowering. I had to answer several key design questions:
How can I transform a complex, multi-step claims process into a simple, guided workflow that reduces cognitive load?
How can I design an document upload feature that users trust and find transparent?
How can I present dense performance data on a dashboard in a way that is immediately insightful for a busy manager, not just overwhelming?
The ultimate goal was to design a platform, Act InsurancePro, that feels less like a system users have to fight with, and more like a smart, reliable assistant that helps them do their best work with confidence and ease
Challange
Analyzing the Challenges in Insurance Operations
To build an effective platform, I first analyzed the common challenges insurance organizations face. Through market research, a review of 15+ industry reports and user complaints, and feedback from insurance professionals, I identified key issues that needed to be addressed in the design.

User Journey Mapping
A critical step in my design process was to map out the complete user journey. To build genuine empathy for the users, I visualized the entire lifecycle of an insurance claim from start to finish, capturing the actions, thoughts, and pain points of key roles like administrators and underwriters.
This detailed analysis was invaluable. It allowed me to move beyond broad industry challenges and identify the specific, high-impact opportunities that would directly shape the features and workflow of Act InsurancePro.

User Flows
We spent a lot of time figuring out what users actually go through when they file a claim. Turns out, there were way more steps and frustrations than we initially thought.

Outcome Result
Designed a platform projected to cut claim processing time by 30%, improve data visibility, streamline workflows, and boost adoption. Powered tools greatly reduced manual entry errors.
